Roxanna Klarin, Director
My name is Roxana Klarin and I have the privilege of to be a director for LACTMA. I have been teaching mathematics in LAUSD for 16 years. I believe that I can bring a new perspective to teaching and the use of professional development to improve instruction. I would like to participate in providing professional development for other teachers emphasizing strategies to help our growing English Learner population.
I believe it is important to understand how curriculum, instruction, and accountability interact in the classroom. I have been an active member of WASC and been involved in several visiting committees. Through the accreditation process, I have seen remarkable teachers and mathematics departments. These experiences have informed my practice, shaped my views, and provided invaluable professional experiences that were shared with my department.
My hope is to serve you as your future LACTMA director. As director, I am working towards creating an open network between our organization and other mathematics associations across the state. I would like to provide professional development opportunities that are both relevant and interesting for mathematics teachers of all levels. Mostly, I am happy to serve as director for you, the teachers of Los Angeles area.
